Below is a list of current roles we are looking to fill at Campfire Innovation.

For all positions, the minimum commitment is 6 weeks. Long term stays are preferred and local part-time volunteers are very welcome.

Job Description:

Campfire Innovation is creating a network of small & smart grassroots organisations providing humanitarian aid in Greece. The Community Outreach Volunteers are responsible for building contacts and maintaining relationships with the teams working in refugee response in the area of refugee response in Athens, and potentially in Thessaloniki, its surrounding and Lesvos.

Their role is to identify teams with the most potential and implement our two key services for our community: Smart Aid Gatherings & the FB Community Group.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identify grassroots organisations, NGO’s, teams of volunteers and local contacts.
  • Arrange visits for first assessment and develop relationships with those organisations and teams.
  • Map all the active grassroots organisations in the area and identify if they can be considered Smart Aid projects and/or how they could improve their functioning.
  • Recognise the needs and challenges of the organisations and find ways to support them in fulfilling those needs and facing those challenges.
  • Participating in development of performance and impact metrics measuring tool and in consulting organisations in measuring their performance and impact
  • Update FB Community Group by adding relevant resources and encouraging interaction among the members of the community
  • Promote toolboxes, how-to guides and case studies created by member of Campfire Innovation (capacity building opportunity for grassroots)
  • Maintaining and updating the MindMap database
  • Responding to relevant incoming projects
  • Organise monthly Smart Aid Gatherings (monthly showcase of successful projects and networking opportunity or workshops workshops on specific topics) or other community events, selecting and inviting organisations and teams, possibly facilitating the event.
  • Attending various coordination meetings (grassroots, ACCMR, UNHCR)
  • Participating in advocacy working groups and advocating for relevant issues

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 months experience with the refugee crisis, preferably experience from the field.
  • Excellent communication skills, including intercultural communication.
  • Confidence in interacting with other organisations and other members of the team.

Hours:

  • Minimum time requirement: 7-15 hours per week & min 3 months
  • Preferred time requirement: 20-30 hours per week & min 2 months

Job Description:

The volunteer will closely cooperate with the Director in order to develop a system for mapping operating organisations and their needs in the area.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in arranging visits and developing relationships with organisations and teams working in the field.
  • Insert collected data in the database.
  • Create new features for the admin interface of the database.
  • Find user friendly solutions for displaying the database to other members of the team and to the organisations.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with the refugee crisis preferred but not necessary if the volunteer is available to volunteer at the same time in another organisation the field.
  • Analytical skills and interest in research necessary.
  • Experience/Understanding of CRM, tech project development.
  • Ability to use visualisation tools.
  • Knowledge of Django/Python framework.
  • Experience/Understanding of data analysis and data management systems.
  • Confidence in interacting with other organisations and other members of the team.
  • Currently located in Athens or willing to relocate.

Hours:

  • Minimum requirement: 5-7 hours per week
  • Part time: 15 – 20 hours per week

Job Description:

Finance & Accounting Volunteers are in charge of financial health of Campfire Innovation by administering accounting operations. Volunteers are responsible for administration of day-to-day financial transactions and delivering needed documents and clear overviews to our external accountant.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Keep accurate records for all daily transactions
  • Prepare balance sheets
  • Process receipts and invoices
  • Update internal systems with financial data
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
  • Assist with budget preparation

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with the refugee crisis preferred but not necessary if the volunteer is available to
    volunteer at the same time in another organisation the field.
  • Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
  • Athens based.

Hours:

  • Time requirement: 5 to 7 hours per week.

Job Description:

Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to undertake most of our work, especially helping small and smart initiatives expand and professionalise, while they continuously provide crucial services to thousands of refugees and asylum seekers in Greece.

The role of our Fundraising & Operations Officer is key to our success keeping the organisation moving forward! You will be working closely with the Director to shape our internal processes and recruit and coordinate a growing team. We are looking for someone who foster an open and creative team producing rigorous work.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Recruitment

  • Identify platforms to post calls for volunteers and attract volunteer applications
  • Assess the applications received for various positions within Campfire Innovation
  • Arrange and conduct interviews with potential volunteers
  • Recruit volunteers fulfilling the requirements

Volunteer Coordination

  • Oversee the communication with interested and incoming volunteers
  • Organise the welcoming of new volunteers
  • Onboard volunteers to our communication platforms (create email addresses, log into Slack etc.)
  • Review the weekly availability of volunteers & manage time off
  • Organise weekly team meeting and keeping minutes

Fundraising

  • Assisting the Director in follow-up communication with potential funders or partners
  • Preparing presentations on our work and future plan in cooperation with the Director
  • Researching & identifying potential funding opportunities

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and within a team
  • Ability to quickly put together written documentation
  • Ability to react quickly to the ever-shifting needs of the refugee situation and of a startup team

  • Experience with Google Drive a must
  • Experience with Slack and Asana preferred
  • Currently located in Athens

Job Description:

The role of our Fundraising Volunteer is key to keeping the organisation moving forward! As a non-profit organisation, we rely on grants, private and company donations to keep us rolling, from our rent to our event costs.

You will be working closely with the Director to connect with donors and promote the work of the organisation. We are looking for someone with the ability to help us diversify our sources of donations and keep Campfire Innovation growing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Director in follow-up communication with potential funders or partners
  • Preparing presentations on our work and future plan in cooperation with the Director
  • Researching & identifying potential funding opportunities

Job Requirements:

  • Previous fundraising experience and grant writing
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Critical and analytical thinking
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and within a team
  • Ability to quickly put together written documentation & PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to react quickly to the ever-shifting needs of the refugee situation and of a startup team

Job Description:

Campfire Innovation’s social media channels publish unique content, interact with like-minded grassroots projects, connect volunteers to local resources, and report the most pressing issues concerning the world of grassroots humanitarian aid.

We are looking for volunteers for the media team who can produce content, whether in the form of posts or long-form blog pieces, that can thoughtfully engage with the issues that matter, as well as providing a platform to support other projects in the European grassroots community. As well we are searching for a volunteer who would be able to define media strategy, take care of the PR and branding of Campfire Innovation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Designing social media strategies and branding strategies.
  • Building positive relationships with other organisations, media and the public.
  • Producing and scheduling social media posts for the Campfire Innovation Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Writing longer topical blog features for the Campfire Innovation Medium page.
  • Interviewing grassroots organisations and creating short written and/or video interviews to publish in the social media and blog
  • Monitoring the social media channels for relevant news or trends, responding to engagements with the accounts and providing updates to the rest of the Campfire Innovation team.
  • Analysing and reporting the monthly results for each social media channel for internal use.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Experience/Understanding of producing and scheduling social media content.
  • Experience/Understanding of using analytics tools to monitor the progress of each social media channel.
  • Confidence in interacting with other organisations and using the social media channel as a networking platform.
  • Experience/Understanding of designing media strategies.
  • Experience/Understanding of branding strategies.
  • Familiarity with web design and publishing.
  • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics.
  • A keen interest in grassroots humanitarian aid, and a desire to research specialist areas to create unique, insightful reports for the Medium blog page.

  • Media strategy: 3-6 hours a week

Job Description:

Without our roster of volunteers, we would be unable to undertake most of our work, especially the implementation of new, innovative smart projects on the ground. The role of Volunteer Coordinator is key in our success in recruiting the right talent and properly training them to be ambassadors for smart aid and efficient members of the CAMPFIRE Innovation team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identify platforms to post calls for volunteers and attract volunteer applications
  • Assess applicants received for various position in CAMPFIRE Innov
  • Recruit volunteers fulfilling the requirements
  • Share relevant information before the arrival of the volunteers
  • Organise on-arrival orientation for new volunteers

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with the refugee crisis preferred but not necessary if the volunteer is available to volunteer at the same time in another organisation  in the field.
  • Proven skills in assessing skills & personality of team members
  • Strong management & coordination skills
  • Willingness to research & identify new partners, ability to communication with organisations in the grassroots field and with corporate world.
  • Ability to think critically about the recruitment process and keep improving it
